Sanjay Leela Bhansali animates ‘Bajirao Mastani'; to premiere on Eros Now soon

The latest heartthrob of millions Ranveer Singh – who rose to fame right from his first movie Band Baaja Baarat in 2010 under the Yash Raj banner – is all set to debut once again but in an animated avatar.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s animated version of Bajirao Mastani, titled as ‘Blazing Bajirao’ is an eight part animated movie that shall give the audience a glimpse into the life and times of the Maratha Peshwa Baji Rao (also called Peshwa Bajirao I). This new experimental venture by the co-producers of the movie, Eros International shall be available for online viewing beginning next month. Blazing Bajirao is a part of amplifying a huge promotional activity that has been planned for the December release ‘Bajirao Mastani’.

According to Eros Now, chief creative officer, Vaibhav Vishal, the animated film has been conceptualised to educate the audiences about the warrior Bajirao and the fierce socio-political and cultural era of that time and alongside also make him the Hero especially for the young viewers.

The first look of the animated movie was launched on 18 August on the auspicious day that marked the 315th birth anniversary of the warrior Peshwa Bajirao I. “It’s Peshwa Bajirao’s 315th birth anniversary today. Such an honour to be a part of the telling of His love-story…. #HappyBirthdayBajirao,” tweeted Ranveer who later also posted an animated photo featuring him as the Blazing Bajirao.

Bajirao I was a noted general who served as Peshwa to the fourth Maratha emperor, Chhatrapati Shahu Raje Bhonsle from 1720 till Bajirao’s death. ‘Thorale’ – as he was fondly known – for having fought in over 40 battles and emerged victorious in all. Bajirao aka Bajirao Ballal Bhat was the most influential of the nine Peshwas. He is also said to have fought for the establishment of Hindu Pad Padshahi (Hindu Empire).

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s larger than life flick, Bajirao Mastani revolves around the heroic life of Bajirao I and his warrior wife Mastani essayed by Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone respectively. The role of his first wife Kashibai is been portrayed by Priyanka Chopra. The movie is all set to hit the theatres on 18 December 2015.
