The year 2014 belonged to Disney Animation Studios once again after winning big at the Oscars in 2013 for ‘Frozen’. And much credit is rightly deserved by the head animation supervisor of ‘Big Hero 6’, Zach Parrish.
He was not only responsible for bringing home another Oscar for the mouse house studio, but more importantly introducing us to the world’s most compassionate robot ever in Baymax. But, there is one thing that not many folks know about this Oscar-winning movie’s animator… He is a self-proclaimed fan of Bollywood, and is enamored by the ‘broad spectacle’ of Hindi films, and honestly believes that working on a Bollywood animated film will be a daunting challenge.
“I know a little bit about Indian films, mainly Bollywood. I love them because of their music, theatrics and the broad spectacle. I have never really thought about working on a Bollywood animated movie, but that would be an interesting challenge,” Parrish exclaimed after a signing session at D23 Expo 2015 in Anaheim.
Parrish has also worked on movies like Tangled and Wreck-It Ralph, and feels the world of animation-based entertainment is poised for growth globally.
“It is an exciting time for the animation industry because so many people are trying to make animated films and there are so many people successfully making them. And that is pushing the style and the scope of films as the bar keeps getting raised which challenges us as an artist to get bigger and better,” he expounded.
